AIIMS, Sweden launch healthcare innovation center for cancer, diabetes

India and Sweden on Tuesday announced the launch of a Healthcare Innovation Centre in India for early diagnosis and digital intervention in the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and cancer.

The Swedish Trade Commissioner’s Office, in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and Jodhpur, announced the launch of the India-Sweden Healthcare Innovation Centre in India.

The announcement was made at the India-Sweden Business Summit in the presence of Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf and Union Finance MinisterNirmala Sitharaman, and her Swedish counterpart Ibrahim Baylan.


India successfully conducts a trial of indigenously made Prithvi-2 missile

India successfully conducted another night trial of its indigenously developed nuclear-capable Prithvi-2 missile as part of a user trial for the armed forces from a test range in Odisha coast.

The flight test of the surface-to-surface missile was carried out barely a fortnight after two back-to-back trials of the Prithvi-2 were conducted successfully at night from the same base on November 20.

The trial of the surface-to-surface missile, which has a strike range of 350 kilometres, was carried out from a mobile launcher of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur. Already inducted into the armoury of the defence forces in 2003, the nine-metre-tall, single-stage liquid-fuelled “Prithvi” is the first missile to have been developed by the DRDO under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP).


Mumbai Central gets first ‘Eat Right Station’ certification from FSSAI

The Mumbai Central station of Railways was conferred with the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification with four stars rating by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on Tuesday, as a part of ‘Eat Right India’ movement launched last year.

Mumbai Central Railway Station is the country’s first “Eat Right Station.” Mumbai Central station has been judged on the basis of compliance of food safety and hygiene, availability of healthy diet, food handling at preparation, transhipment and retail/serving point, food waste management, promotion of local and seasonal food and creating awareness on food safety and healthy diet.


15th edition of India’s Auto Expo to be held from February 5-12 in 2020

The 15th edition of India’s biennial flagship automobile show, Auto Expo, will be held from February 5-12, 2020 in Uttar Pradesh.

While the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors will continue to make their presence felt, notable absentees from the expo will be Honda, BMW and Ford among others.


ISRO to launch border surveillance satellite Risat-2BR1 on Dec 11

India will put into orbit another of its sharp-eyed surveillance satellite RISAT-2BR1 with synthetic aperture radar on December 11.

Piggybacking on the 615 kg RISAT-2BR1 in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) would be four foreign satellites that India will be carrying for a fee.

According to an official, another radar imaging satellite 2BR2 with synthetic aperture radar will soon follow after December 11 mission. The next radar imaging satellite – RISAT-2BR2 – expected to be launched soon will also have two small foreign satellites are piggyback.


Indian Navy submarines to get air-independent propulsion system from 2024

The state-of-the-art “Air Independent Propulsion” (AIP) system that the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) is indigenously developing will be ready to drive the Indian Navy’s submarines from 2024 onwards. Consequently, this AIP will not power the six new submarines that the navy is tendering in a Rs 45,000 crore programme called Project 75-I.


Prahlad Singh Patel unveils Kalash containing soil of Jalianwalla Bagh at National Museum

Tourism MinisterPrahlad Singh Patel today unveiled the Kalash containing soil of Jalianwalla Bagh, the soil of martyr at National Museum in New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Patel said the main idea behind displaying the Kalash containing soil of Jalianwalla Bagh in National Museum is to inspire the youth of the country especially children and pay tribute to the martyrs of freedom struggle. He further said that it is not just a regular soil, it is the part of one of the greatest sacrifices and government want to honour their sacrifices.


RNU AIR celebrates World Divyang Day

The World  Divyang Day was celebrated on 3rd December 2019 in a unique way by Regional News Unit (RNU) of All India Radio under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, at Nagpur.

The FM headlines of 11:58 am in Braille were prepared and it was read by a visually impaired person. This unique initiative by RNU Nagpur is being taken to build confidence in such visual impaired persons.


2019 Ballon d’Or winners

The 2019 Ballon d’Or was the 64th annual ceremony of the Ballon d’Or, presented by France Football, and recognising the best footballer in the world for 2019. The winner was announced in Paris on 2 December 2019. Lionel Messi won the award for a record sixth time in his career.

CSIR-IICT Nuclear Magnetic Resonance test facility gets US FDA certification

The CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad has announced that the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) test facility at the institute has passed the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) inspection with “no observations”.

The NMR spectroscopy is an important technique for structural characterization of pharmaceutical and other chemical molecules. NMR laboratory, a NABL accredited facility is one of the country’s largest facilities. It is equipped with nine state-of-the-art high field NMR spectrometers.


Vice Prez M Venkaiah Naidu launches Bharatiya POSHAN Anthem

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has launched Bharatiya POSHAN Anthem in New Delhi. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has stressed on the need to focus on ensuring good quality, easily accessible and affordable maternal healthcare services for all women.

The anthem has been penned by noted lyricist Prasoon Joshi and sung by Shankar Mahadevan.

POSHAN Abhiyaan

POSHAN Abhiyaan was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2018 with an objective to make India malnutrition free by 2022.POSHAN Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022.

The objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan to reduce stunting in identified Districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving the utilization of key Anganwadi Services and improving the quality of Anganwadi Services delivery. Its aim to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children.
